As I was leaving my hot yoga class this evening, sweatier than I have ever been (I sat in the sun–> worth it), I thought of something very important that I forgot to say about your first yoga class.
Last but possibly most important:
DO NOT LEAVE IN THE MIDDLE OF CORPSE POSE (Savasana)! For one it is very rude to those around you as well as the person teaching the class. You getting up and gathering your things can ruin the mood of the entire class. Secondly, you are missing out on one of the most relaxing and rewarding poses of the entire practice. Savasana lets you spend a little time within your own body and mind with awareness. It is an opportunity to meditate for a few minutes which has been shown to have several health benefits, including stress reduction. If you have already committed to take the time to come to class and practice yoga, don’t sell the experience short!
